The world of “Tele-Everything” – UNF Spinnaker

Study experts say new normal in 2025 will be tech-driven while others believe it will widen economic disparities by Pew Research Center.

While the study’s experts say there are some benefits to a “tele-everything” world, there are those that are generally overlooked in this future. Tele-everything refers to the adoption of remote processes in everyday life. There is still a population that does not have the financial means for a “tele-everything” life. Lack of access in a tech driven world could mean not being able to afford the latest technology or being able to pay for the best quality internet plan.

Director of IT Service Management Chris Petrello looks forward to an inclusive technology future.

“One of the things I hope we can change is digital equity and access,” he said. “It’s assumed that everyone has a device that can consume or access the things that others talk about and use, but there’s still a large group of people who don’t have it and are excluded.”

During the pandemic, businesses, universities and other institutions have embraced remote and hybrid workplaces. This projected theories for the advancement of technology much more than expected. Bringing new software home and learning how to use it has become important and has increased the demand for information technology (IT) specialists.

According to US Bureau of Labor Statistics“IT occupations are projected to grow by 13.4% over the 2020-30 decade, 5.7 percentage points higher than the 7.7% average for all occupations.”

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that occupations such as software developers, quality assurance analysts, web developers and digital interface designers will see the fastest growth, with information security in mind.

UNF board member and cybersecurity expert Nikul Patel explained his own predictions for the future of the technology.

“VR will be really interesting,” he said. “Quantum computing, artificial intelligence and the metaverse will make the world unreal.”

Patel explained how facial recognition, like traditional Zoom filters and backgrounds, is moving the tech world towards virtual reality. He used the example of graphics in video games, how light glares on characters’ glasses. Even though it’s all computer generated, it feels real.

Software engineers focus on developing, designing, and maintaining the application. User interface (UI) and user experience (UX) designers focus on creating the look and functionality of an application. Cybersecurity analysts keep users safe and secure sensitive information. Information technologists (IT) fit all of these responsibilities while helping and fixing problems someone might have with their computer.

“There are project managers making around six figures,” Patel said. “If you’re someone who likes hosting tea parties or birthday parties, then you’d be perfect for project management.”

There are several ways to pursue a career in technology. One way is to attend a four-year college majoring in computer science. Another is to take advantage of select colleges’ six-month coding Bootcamp. There are also certification programs by companies like Coursera from Google and Microsoft’s leap.

the University of North Florida Continuing Education Division offers a part-time cybersecurity and coding boot camp provided by Fullstack Academy. The program consists of four phases that teach practical computing, attack and defense of security techniques, and the different types of cybercrime.

Applications for the UNF Coding and Cybersecurity Boot Camp are due May 31 and classes begin June 6. If you are interested in pursuing a career in technology at UNF, visit here.

This affects not only how they work or attend classes, but also how they receive their news, health care, ordering meals at restaurants, and even grocery shopping.

Unfortunately, this push for a technology-driven society could leave behind those with little or no income due to its cost. Finding a solution to the economic disparities in technology continues to be a primary focus for researchers.
