The Sigr Riksväg 92 Cargo Bib Shorts feature a well-designed chamois, a comfortable fit and pockets – they are well-appointed for long journeys. The price is high, but their performance, quality and durability make them a worthwhile investment.
These shorts are specially designed for long distance road cycling, which only puts more emphasis on the cushion. This elastic interface has a variable thickness on the pad and is the thickest (13 mm) under the sit bones.
I found it to be one of the most comfortable I have ever used – the padding is in the right places and it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a diaper.
It also conforms well to the contours of the body and its absorbing effect is impressive; even after a long, hot day in the saddle, it feels dry to the touch.
A silicone dot band keeps the thighs in place, while the seamless straps at the top are slim – they are virtually invisible under your bikini line.
Mesh thigh pockets are ideal for easy access snacks.
I used them on multi-day enduro races and a recent Badger Divide trip, and even for eight-hour days in the saddle, they remained comfortable, supportive, and hassle-free.
They even survived several days without being washed, odorless or deteriorating in performance – I was riding a bike, okay, and had limited space …
The size chart turns out to be accurate, and the thigh material is particularly stretchy and should fit most shapes (something I usually struggle with). The shoulder straps also have generous reach for comfort on the shoulders.
> 38 of the best bib shorts – get comfortable on long journeys
Sigr seems very invested in environmental issues, and as a result uses a recycled fabric – Carvico – and builds these things to last. After several months of difficult days, they show no signs of wear or degradation.
These are currently £ 181 on Sigr’s Swedish website (UK import taxes included), although the price varies depending on the exchange rate – they are set at kr 1,999. This is by no means cheap, although they do provide the performance needed to support the top price. And these are not outliers either.
For example, the 7mesh RK1 bib shorts that received so much praise from Stu cost £ 200, although he has a different take on the chamois – it’s shorter than most. Meanwhile, the Pearl Izumi Pro Bib Shorts, according to Adam, are the ‘best shorts ever’ contender at £ 189.99.
Sigr also offers a non-cargo version of these shorts for around £ 20 less, as well as women’s versions of both.
The Sigr Riksväg 92 bib shorts are really hard to fault. They have become my benchmark thanks to their excellent fit, comfort and moisture management capabilities. The price tag is steep, but the build quality and attention to detail, in my opinion, is worth it.
High price, but great performance, quality and comfort that promise to last

Tell us what the product is for
Sigr says: “We have taken our popular Riksväg 92 bibs and made a new version with a smart and practical detail. After listening to the advice of our long distance and club cycling friends, we have added a practical thigh pocket which is ideal for a cell phone, energy bars, gels or cards … once you have experienced these bibs, you will probably never know how you lived without them!
“The thigh pockets are a smart solution because they are located on an area of the leg away from the joints while remaining easily and naturally within reach. This means that your movements on the bike are not hindered. “

It has become my new bib shorts. They deliver the top level performance you expect from the top price tag and are built well enough to last a long time. The chamois is particularly excellent too, and the pockets are very useful. There is little or nothing to complain about.
