Start11 restores the classic Start menu on Windows 11

If the new user interface Microsoft is touting for Windows 11 scares you, don’t worry, there is a way to get the classic Start menu back.

Stardock has been offering a Windows 7 Start menu experience for more modern versions of the operating system for years. Start10 offers the classic Start menu to Windows 10 users for $ 4.99 (there was also a Start8 for Windows 8 before that). Now a new version called Start11 entered beta to provide the same experience for Windows 11 users, albeit in an early form.

“This first beta is designed to recover some of the functionality lost in the current Windows 11 Start menu,” said Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock. “We’ve got a lot of great new features planned to make the Start menu not only more accessible, but also more useful for businesses and power users. “

Start11 offers multiple Start menu layouts, quick access to search, color and texture options for the menu, and the ability to integrate Stardock’s Fences application, which automatically organizes desktop shortcut icons and running tasks.

Stardock also plans to expand the functionality on offer with “considerably” faster and more detailed search results, more styling options, improved productivity features, menu configuration options, and simple math problems that can be performed. in the search box.

Some would say it’s time to put the classic Start menu on the story books, but it’s nice to have a choice, and if Microsoft is giving us a really better UI experience this time around, we can all save $ 5 and start using it.
