The VA North Texas Health Care System Psychology Training Program offers an undergraduate clinical psychology and postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology, as well as training for advanced doctoral students as part of the clinical psychology internship. Psychology internship and postdoctoral residency program

Psychology internships and postgraduate residency training are programs accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) with an annual stipend for each position. Questions regarding accredited status should be directed to:

Internship program

Our doctoral internship is fully APA accredited with the next site initially scheduled for the 2020 academic year. Due to the global pandemic and associated travel restrictions, all visits to APA re-accreditation sites have been canceled or postponed to 2020 It is not known when our next site visit will be, but our APA accreditation will remain in place throughout this extended re-accreditation process. The Dallas VA doctoral internship program is also a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) with information included in the APPIC directory. The Dallas VA internship follows all APPIC policies and corresponding policies and procedures.

Postdoctoral fellowship program

The Postdoctoral Fellowship is fully accredited by the APA with the next site visit scheduled in the academic year 2029. The Psychology Fellow must have met all doctoral (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) requirements. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited institution, including completion of a doctoral internship in professional psychology (must also be APA accredited). Internship and / or practical internship experiences in relevant clinical settings (substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), LGBT healthcare or medical psychology) and professional goal to work as a psychologist in the areas of drug addiction, PTSD, LGBT Health care or medical psychology is preferred but not required.

Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The postdoctoral residency in clinical neuropsychology is a 2-year program, recruiting one resident each year. The program is a member of the Association of Postgraduate Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN: and has received APA Specialty Accreditation on Contingencies in Clinical Neuropsychology until 2022. This program follows a training model academic practitioner consistent with the APA 40 / Houston Conference Guidelines division. As such, this program will help residents meet the prerequisites for certification in clinical neuropsychology counseling through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Residents of the Neuropsychology program interact with residents of the Clinical Psychology program through a combination of shared didactics and professional development supervision.

Dallas Substance Abuse Leadership Training (DALT)

This two-year scholarship is designed to develop our future clinical, academic and / or administrative leaders in the field of addiction. Fellows will devote at least 75% of their time to a supervised project of particular interest and relevance to the future goals of the fellows.
No more than 25% of colleagues’ efforts will be devoted to the required clinical service. Specialized training in leadership skills will also be at the center of the scholarship. It is open to candidates in psychology, pharmacy and medicine.
The physician may be eligible for board or board certified in any specialty. The psychologist may be licensed or eligible for a license.

The pharmacist can be licensed in any state or territory in the United States. Recent graduates as well as mid-career applicants are encouraged to apply.
