Just when you thought 2021 couldn’t be worse, we’re here to remind you of our most terrifying find of the year – the Your Life in Weeks infographic. That’s right, as January gets closer and closer, we can prepare to check out another year of this spooky infographic based on average life expectancy.
This existentialism-inducing infographic reveals how much of your lifespan you’ve already lived and how much time (on average) you have left – yuck. It’s no surprise that this rather gruesome graph has plagued the internet throughout the year. Does that sound a bit too morbid to you? Don’t worry, why not check out our roundup of the best infographics for something more cheerful.
To view a personalized table of Your Life in Weeks, all you need to do is enter basic information such as your birthday. With this information, the board will separate your life into color-coded life stages, from school to retirement, and show a small star on the board to indicate where you are in your life. If you go to the website, you can also compare your lifespan to that of Kurt Cobain, Vincent Van Gogh, and William Shakespeare. The infographic was produced by “individual development studio” Coruscant Consulting, and as great as the design is, we hope the brains behind something so morbid is doing well.
It looks like the concept for the infographic is based on a similar conception by illustrator Tim Urban who posted a painting “The Life of a Typical American” on his blog Wait But Why. Urban’s design features the average age for certain life events, such as when you can legally drive and your first child.
After the second year of soaking in and out of blockages, this infographic looks more poignant than ever.
