Dutch Apple Dinner Theater announces reopening with ‘Clue The Musical’ after coronavirus shutdown

As more counties enter the green phase of state closure and reopening guidelines, at least one theater will try to strike a balance between gathering an audience and social distancing regulations.

The Dutch Apple Dinner Theater has announced that it will reopen with “Clue The Musical” from July 17th. The show is based on the classic murder mystery board game “whodunnit”, which also inspired an independent film adaptation. The show focuses on Mr. Body’s sudden death, with visitors to his home trying to figure out which of them killed him, in which room, and with what weapon.

“Due to the current environment, Dutch Apple has made many adjustments and taken several measures to ensure the health and safety of their actors, employees and customers,” said a press release from the theater. “By adhering to the CDC recommendations and the ‘green phase’ guidelines put in place by Governor Wolf, the theater will operate at reduced capacity, with social distancing being encouraged throughout the theater.”

Table seats throughout the theater have been adjusted to allow more distance between tables, and all tables are now private. The buffet dinner traditionally offered by the venue will now have gloved attendants serving buffet items to guests, rather than self-service.

Visitors to the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater will also be required to submit to temperature checks, with no one above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit allowed. Employees and cast members of the show will go through “thorough assessments before they can return to work,” the press release said, and employees will be required to wear face masks. Future productions slated to return to the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater include a children’s theater performance titled ‘How I Became a Pirate’ starting July 24 and tribute concerts to artists such as Barry Manilow, Barbara Streisand and ABBA, carried over earlier in the year.
