Art Walk, A Canvas of Expression arrives at Disney Springs Town Center this month, inviting viewers to connect with the works of local and international artists through ever-changing murals.

Stacey Aoyama – Illustrator for Disney Consumer Products, Stacey attended the Art Center College of Design and, although she had many professional ambitions (ballerina, orthodontist, astronaut, etc.), her passion for art became her calling.

Eric Tan – Inspired by “The Jungle Book” at the age of three, Eric became an artist and worked as a designer at Disney Consumer Products for over 20 years.

CEDARVILLE — The four-year achievements of Cedarville High School students will be celebrated at graduation on Thursday, May 19.

Seniors will cross the stage and receive their degrees inside the Dixon Ministry Center at Cedarville University to cap off the ceremony, which begins at 7 p.m.

Of the graduates, 95% plan to attend a two- or four-year school while 5% plan to join the workforce, according to principal Chad Haemmerle.

Haemmerle praised this class which, like the previous couple, faced on-the-fly adjustments due to COVID-19.

“Our senior graduates are an incredible group of hard-working, high-achieving individuals,” he said. “This group of young people are ready to do the right things and make the right choices that speak volumes about their character. Their absolute willingness to serve humbly in front or behind the scenes in any capacity is needed on a level that I have not witnessed in my career. They lead with positivity and by example in all their endeavours. I couldn’t be prouder of this group of students, they will be sorely missed.

Zoe Barger is the class valedictorian and Regan Dunstan is the salutatorian.

Barger served as a class officer for all four years of high school, and this year served as president of the National Honor Society and vice president of the Key Club. She will attend Butler University, major in website design and development, and participate in the honors program. Barger is this year’s recipient of the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award for Greene County and will receive $500.

Dunstan served as a class officer and band officer throughout his high school career. She immersed herself in a multitude of activities including all the different groups offered within the music department. She plans to attend Ohio University in the fall and study forensic chemistry in hopes of furthering her law degree.

Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) at Trinity recently held their annual Digital Scholarship Day, designed to celebrate the use of technology in research and teaching projects created by faculty, staff and students.

“We wanted to create an opportunity for digital researchers to meet and appreciate each other’s work, and to invite members of our community who are unfamiliar with digital work to be inspired to try it themselves” , said Digital Fellowships Coordinator Mary Mahoney ’09, who helped organize the April 21 event.

Lawyers for the town of Front Royal missed the April 14, 2022, 5:00 p.m. deadline to file objections to Judge Joel C. Hoppe’s March 31 memorandum and opinion, which partially ruled in Berry’s (called “Brown” in court documents due to his marriage after the lawsuit was initially filed) favored the city’s solicitor-client privilege regarding communication with his attorney of record, Julie Judkins.

SEBASTIAN — The body of a 93-year-old woman was found in a large freezer in a home’s garage on Thursday, prompting a death investigation, police said.

The woman has been identified as Marie Hoskins. Hoskins lived at home with her 64-year-old daughter.

Police did not release the girl’s name on Friday.

“No charges have been filed at this time,” said Sebastian Police Cpt. Tim Wood said on Friday.

Sebastian Police responded to a welfare check at the residence on the 100 block of Paddock Street, north of Barber Street, on Thursday. A neighbor feared he wouldn’t see Hoskins for an extended, indefinite period, officers said.

“Officers made multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact anyone at the residence and were unable to obtain any information about Ms. Hoskins’ whereabouts,” police said.

Officers were able to obtain a key to the house with the help of an out-of-town family member. Police entered the residence and found Hoskins’ daughter, who initially said she had not seen Hoskins in some time, officers said.

Police searched the rest of the property and found Hoskins’ body in a large freezer in the garage, officials said. Officers said the girl voluntarily surrendered to the police department for questioning because police had obtained a search warrant for the home.

Police recovered Hoskins’ body early Friday, along with other evidence. An autopsy will be performed to determine Hoskins’ exact cause of death.

“Detectives are actively working with the medical examiner and the state’s attorney’s office on this case as it is still active at this time,” police said.
