Vermont Business Magazine As Vermont moves away from the pandemic, leaders who value a strong support network moving forward will experience the greatest success. After two such difficult, exhausting and sometimes isolating years, there is now strength to be drawn from camaraderie. Strong leadership rooted in the value of peers coming together to work collaboratively and support each other is more important than ever.

As an intensive cohort-based civic leadership development program offered by the Snelling Center for Government, the Vermont Leadership Institute (VLI) has been developing and supporting leaders across the state since 1995. The meaningful relationships among participants who develop and continue to strengthen over the years. the course of the 9 month program is unique to VLI and often maintained for years. In addition to an engaging cohort, VLI provides Vermont’s most active private, public, and nonprofit participants with programs and faculty to meet the growing complexity of today’s challenges. Session topics include, but are not limited to personal leadership adaptation; complex systems thinking and innovation; and leadership paradigms that support diversity, equity, and inclusion for all Vermonters. Upon completion of the program, participants join a community of more than 625 VLI graduates who have made a profound difference to the quality of life of Vermonters and their communities during this unprecedented time: designing innovative businesses, leading organizations with purpose award-winning nonprofits, serve in the legislature and state government, and volunteer in their communities.
