ACU professor designs new USPS stamps

ABILENE, TX – A former ACU graduate will have his designs featured on the new forever stamps to be issued by the United States Post Office.

Ryan Feerer graduated from the Christian University of Abilene in 2002. He went on to obtain an MFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York.

Feer is the Director of the Graphic Design Program at ACU and Associate Professor of Design and Designer in Residence.

One of Feerer’s former professors in New York, Gail Anderson, served on the USPS Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee and recommended Feerer for the project.

For over two years, Feerer has been working on the theme “Western Wear” which features four new stamps. The stamps will showcase a boot, pearl snap button shirt, belt buckle and cowboy hat.

The stamps will incorporate small plants, animals, the sun, western ornaments and other small elements to make each stamp unique.

“I responded within seconds. Creating stamps was a dream opportunity that I never thought I could achieve. I was ecstatic but a little nervous that he might fail because of his importance, ”said Feerer. “The USPS issues less than 40 new stamps each year, and I have been fortunate enough to design four with a circulation of 175 million. For me, it’s mind-blowing.

The stamps will be available towards the end of the month and they can be pre-ordered at the following link.

In addition to his work for ACU, Feerer has designed logos for Target, Fossil, Etsy, Snapchat, Academy Sports, and Outdoors, among others.
